Short, because the service is simple
Effective 2026-07-20. You upload an image, we analyze it in memory and remove it, you get a report with its limits stated. These terms cover the free trial and Vestige Pro, which is sold through Polar as merchant of record.
1. What the service is
Vestige Forensics analyzes images you upload and returns a forensic report with a calibrated verdict on whether the image is AI-generated. A verdict is a calibrated statistical signal, not proof of synthesis or of authenticity. Every report states its false-positive budget, detection rate, and limits; read them before acting on a verdict, and corroborate with provenance and context. Reports are not legal advice, and we are not an expert-witness service.
2. Plans and quotas
Two plans exist today. The free trial gives each account 2 image analyses per ISO week, resetting Monday 00:00 UTC. Vestige Pro is $2.99 per month for 100image analyses per calendar month (UTC). An analysis is counted when it is authorized; if an upload then fails, that analysis is still counted. We may change quotas, limits, and features; we won’t reduce what you’ve already paid for within a period you’ve bought. API access is included with both plans and draws on the same quota: an analysis requested with an API key is counted exactly as one requested in the browser. You are responsible for keeping your API keys secret, and you can revoke them at any time from your account page. Enterprise offerings are in development and not yet available.
3. Billing, cancellation & refunds
Vestige Pro is sold through Polar, our merchant of record. Polar is the seller for your purchase: it takes the payment, handles any applicable VAT or sales tax, and issues your invoice. Your card details go to Polar and never reach our servers. The subscription renews monthly until you cancel. You can cancel any time from the billing portal linked on your account page. Cancellation stops the next renewal and your access continues until the end of the period you already paid for; we do not pro-rate partial months by default. If something went wrong with a charge, email us and we will sort it out with Polar.
4. Your account
One account per person, with a real email address you control. You’re responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential. You can delete your account at any time from the account page; deletion is immediate and permanent.
5. Acceptable use
Don’t upload images you have no right to process, don’t use the service to harass or defame anyone, and don’t circumvent the trial quota (multiple accounts, automation against the web flow, resold access). We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service or degrade it for others. That’s the whole enforcement policy, and we’d rather never use it.
6. Privacy
Your images are analyzed in memory, never seen by a human, and removed once the report is written; your account data is the minimum the trial needs. The privacy commitments are part of these terms.
7. No warranty
The service is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. Detection of AI-generated imagery is an adversarial, moving problem: generators released after our calibration run may not be represented, and scores on novel generators can be wrong. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim related to the free trial is limited to zero (matching what you paid for it) and for a paid plan, to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
